All rats surrendered to the Greater Indy Rat Rescue must come with their own cages as they are often fostered. Having their own cage makes the transition easier for the animals, as the change of environment and carer may cause stress.
While we normally do not charge a surrender fee, one may be charged if rat is pregnant or ill. This will usually be no more than $10.00
As a general rule, we do not accept excess breeding stock from breeders as we at GIRR feel it is the responsibility of the breeder to adequately place all litters they produce. In certain circumstances and at the sole discretion of our Founder an exception may be made to assist a breeder in distress.
